Card processing cost has two parts: a percentage of the amount, and a flat fee per transaction. The calculator assumes a $25 average transaction, so the number of transactions is your monthly volume divided by 25.
That second part matters more than most people expect. A flat 30¢ on a $25 sale is another 1.2% on top of the headline rate — see the effective rate calculator to work out your own.
