Wise Business fee calculator

Work out exactly what Wise Business card payments cost you at your volume and average transaction size.

Wise Business lets you take card payments through payment links, invoices and QR codes, and prices domestic and international cards differently. Drag both sliders — ticket size changes the answer as much as volume does, because the fixed per-transaction fee is a much bigger share of a small sale.

Ticket size matters as much as volume: the fixed per-transaction fee is what makes small payments expensive.

At $25, the flat $0.30 adds 1.20% on top of the 2.90% headline rate — which is why the effective rate is 4.10%, not 2.90%.

How Wise Business prices card payments

Wise is best known for multi-currency accounts and cheap transfers. Card acceptance sits on top of that: you send a payment link, invoice or QR code, the customer pays by card, and Wise deducts its fee and pays the rest into your Wise balance in the currency the customer paid.

Domestic consumer card2.9%30¢
International card4.2%30¢

The calculator uses the domestic rate. If most of your customers are overseas, or pay with company cards, use the 4.2% column below instead — that is the rate most Wise users actually pay.

Why your effective rate is higher than the headline

A percentage takes the same share of every sale. A fixed fee does not — 30¢ is the same amount on a $5 charge as on a $500 one, so it costs a hundred times more of the small one proportionally.

Who Wise Business suits

Freelancers, consultants and small agencies who invoice clients in several currencies and already hold a Wise account. Getting paid by card straight into a multi-currency balance, with no monthly fee, is genuinely convenient.

What this does not include

  • The higher 4.2% rate on international and business cards, unless you enter it yourself
  • Currency conversion if you move the balance into another currency
  • Chargeback and dispute fees, which depend on your dispute rate
  • Negotiated pricing, which is not publicly listed

For your real blended number across all of those, run one month of statements through the effective rate calculator. If you bill abroad, the international payment fees calculator stacks the cross-border and FX costs. To see every provider side by side, use the payment processor fee comparison.

GOOD QUESTIONS

Frequently asked

How much does Wise Business charge to accept card payments?+

In the US, Wise Business charges 2.9% + 30¢ for domestic consumer cards and 4.2% + 30¢ for international cards and for business cards from any country. There is no monthly fee and no payout fee.

Why is my Wise effective rate higher than 2.9%?+

Two reasons. The fixed 30¢ is a bigger share of small payments — at a $10 ticket the domestic effective rate is 5.90%. And any international or business card is charged 4.2% + 30¢, which for cross-border clients is often most of your volume.

Does Wise Business have a monthly fee for card payments?+

No. Wise advertises no monthly fee, no minimum contract and no payout fee for card acceptance. You pay the per-transaction fee only.

How do I compare this to other processors?+

Compare effective rates at your own average ticket size and card mix, not headline percentages. If most of your customers are abroad, compare other providers' international rates against Wise's 4.2%, not its 2.9%. The payment processor fee comparison table puts every provider side by side at three ticket sizes.
