Card Verification Checks
Card Verification Value (CVV) and Address Verification System (AVS) checks are two essential security measures used in online card payments to reduce fraud, minimize chargebacks, and ensure compliance with payment processing best practices.
Each Payment MethodAPI object includes AVS and CVV results as part of its card property. Verification results are also available in the Dashboard when viewing a payment.
Address Verification System (AVS)
AVS is a fraud prevention tool used by card networks to verify that the billing address provided by the customer matches the address on file with the issuing bank.

Card Verification Value (CVV)
CVV (or CVC for Mastercard, CID for Amex) is the three- or four-digit security code printed on the physical card, used to verify that the customer has the card in hand when making a purchase.
A CVV match is required unless a stored payment method is used. For security and compliance reasons, CVV cannot be stored after authorization and must be re-entered for each new transaction.
